A-Roveing he will go

Paul Gigot reports that Karl Rove has resigned as White House deputy chief of staff to return to Texas effective August 31. Rove’s disclosure came in a Saturday interview with Gigot that covered events past and future. The interview gives us much to chew over and does not dwell much on the absurd liberal bogeyman into which partisan Democrats have turned him. “I’m a myth. There’s the Mark of Rove,” Rove says in the interview. “I read about some of the things I’m supposed to have done, and I have to try not to laugh.”
Perhaps most amusing to me was reading the suggestion in Mary Mapes’s book on Rathergate that we were taking our orders from Rove on the morning of September 9, 2004, as we participated in the exposure of the fraud Mapes had perpetrated in her production of the 60 Minutes II piece the night before . “I didn’t know that the attack on CBS News and the story we aired was just another part of the Bush camp’s aggressive pattern of sliming anyone and everyone who raised questions about the president,” writes Mapes in her utterly deceitful memoir.
When I got the chance to shake Rove’s hand at the White House Hannukah party in December 2005, I told Rove that we were awaiting further instructions. He just laughed.
