North Korea announced today that it had agreed with American negotiators to fully account for and disable its nuclear programs. There has been no announcement yet as to what consideration the American negotiators agreed to provide, although there were references to taking North Korea off the list of state sponsors of terrorism, which would make that country eligible for some types of aid. The Bush administration has also announced that it will provide flood relief aid to North Korea.
Dismantlement of North Korea’s nuclear programs is to be completed during 2007.
This can only be good news, I think. As long as they don’t bring Hans Blix back to carry out the inspections.
