Syrian Air Strike Explained?

Last week’s strike by Israeli aircraft against a site in northern Syria has been a bit of a mystery. Possible explanations are now emerging, as reported by Ynet. Some say the target was weapons caches sent by Iran to Hizbollah. The more dramatic possibility, however, is that the Israelis took out a nuclear facility that was funded by Iran and supplied by North Korea:

The official added that recent Israeli reconnaissance flights over Syria revealed possible nuclear installations that Israeli officials estimate might have been supplied with material from North Korea.
Meanwhile on Wednesday the Nazareth-based Israeli Arab newspaper The Assennara cited anonymous Israeli sources as saying that Israeli jets “bombed a Syrian-Iranian missile base in northern Syria that was financed by Iran… It appears that the base was completely destroyed.”

One theory holds that North Korea is selling off its nuclear material to Iran and Syria. It’s interesting that North Korea issued a statement denouncing Israel’s air strike.
Maybe it’s time to dust off the “Axis of Evil.” Remember those who scoffed at the idea that North Korea could have anything in common with Iraq and Iran?
