Pawlenty Riding High

A new Minnesota Poll came out today, showing Governor Tim Pawlenty with a 59% approval rating, the highest since shortly after his inauguration. The Star Tribune, which runs the poll, can’t quite believe it:

Despite frequent combat with the DFL-dominated Legislature, the recent horror of a bridge collapse on his watch and questions about the state’s response to flooding in southeastern Minnesota, Republican Pawlenty’s strong approval rating cut across gender, regional and age lines.

It apparently didn’t occur to the Strib that battling the Democrat-controlled legislature (approval rating: 43%) is one of the factors contributing to Pawlenty’s surging popularity.
