Looking forward…

In his editorial for the new issue of the Weekly Standard, Bill Kristol quotes Barack Obama’s exchange with Hillary Clinton (above) at the Des Moines Register Democratic candidates’ forum over which Editor Ratched presided:

Q: Senator Obama, you have Bill Clinton’s former national security adviser, State Department policy director, and Navy secretary, among others, advising you. With relatively little foreign policy experience of your own, how will you rely on so many Clinton advisers and still deliver the kind of break from the past that you’re promising voters?
OBAMA: Well, the–you know, I am .  .  .
CLINTON (interrupting): [cackle] I wanna hear this [more cackling]
OBAMA: Well, Hillary, I’m looking forward to you advising me, as well.

Bill declares this exchange “[t]he defining moment of the Democratic presidential campaign so far[.]” He summarizes evidence drawn solely from the campaign supporting the case that it is “Time to move on…from Hillary.” Earlier this week Paul Mirengoff itemized Hillary Hall of Shame moments predating the campaign in “Tacky and corrupt.”
PAUL adds: Until recently, I thought that the nomination of Hillary Clinton was virtually a done-deal. But her decision to attack Barack Obama’s character, as opposed to his lack of experience, has changed my view. The defining moment for me was the reference to Obama’s kindergarten “essay.”
Clinton still has a pretty healthy lead over Obama in parts of the country where voters haven’t seen much of the candidates. But where voters have seen Hillary up-close, that level of familiarity has bred something like contempt.
