Bill Kristol reports that Joe Lieberman will endorse John McCain in New Hampshire tomorrow. Though he continues to caucus with his Democratic colleagues in the Senate, the Democratic Party has long since left Joe Lieberman. As Senator Lieberman has come to dissent from his Democratic colleagues on issues related to the war, I have come to respect him enormously.
If Senator Lieberman’s endorsement opened the possibility that bipartisanship in foreign policy might be restored, his endorsement would affect me. But I think that Senator Lieberman is an island of sanity in a sea of Democratic Party madness. His endorsement nevertheless makes the already extremely interesting Republican race even more interesting.
