In the Big Apple

We’re in New York for tomorrow night’s gala event honoring Norman Podhoretz’s World War IV as Power Line’s Book of the Year for 2007.

The award carries with it a $25,000 honorarium, which will be donated to Soldiers’ Angels in Podhoretz’s honor. Patti Patton-Bader, the President of Soldiers’ Angels, will be on hand to receive the donation.

Henry Kissinger and Mark Steyn will speak, along with Norman P. I am privileged to be the master of ceremonies for the event. The evening will conclude with a Q&A/panel discussion involving Kissinger, Steyn and Podhoretz.
Our purpose, of course, is to promote Podhoretz’s far-sighted analysis of the long war against Islamic extremism. Podhoretz places the war and the Bush Doctrine squarely in the main channel of American history. World War IV is concise, lucid and relentless. It is a necessary reminder of the fundamental issues that are so often obscured by the transitory ups and downs of this (or any other) war. If you haven’t read it, you should.
We’ll report further tomorrow night.
