Who was that mass murderer?

The murderer who killed eight students at the Mercaz Harav yeshiva in Jerusalem has tentatively been identified as a former driver at the seminary who lived in the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood of East Jerusalem. Ynet News reports:

Several residents of the neighborhood gave the gunman’s name as Alaa Abu Dheim, 20. They said he was arrested by Israeli authorities four months ago and then released two months later.

The report adds:

Abu Dheim’s family set up a mourning tent Friday and hung green Hamas flags outside their home.

The report is suggestive of the multiple layers of security issues that confront Israel in the current war, precisely none of which would be mitigated by the nascent terror state on the West Bank.
