David McCullough’s John Adams is one of the great works of history of recent years. It has been made into a seven-part series by HBO, and, as you could hardly help noticing, HBO has been advertising it on this and many other web sites. The series begins tonight at 8:00 eastern, 7:00 central, which is to say in about a half hour.
While I was driving home from the airport Friday afternoon and listening to the Michael Medved show, Medved talked about the HBO series; he said that he is not sure he has ever recommended anything, in any medium, so whole-heartedly. McCullough himself is reported to be delighted with the production. So it sounds like it will be well worth checking out.
