Rev. Jeremiah Wright is not the only religious figure from whom Barack Obama draws inspiration. Obama also has ties with Rev. Michael Pfleger, the Catholic pastor at St. Sabina on the south side of Chicago. The connection, reported in April 2004 by the Chicago Tribune, is discussed here and here.
As these reports show, Rev. Pfleger, like Rev. Wright, is a hard core supporter of Louis Farrakhan. Just how hard core became apparent two years ago. At that time the Illinois Hate commission was found to have an acolyte of Farrakhan on board, Sister Claudette Marie Muahmmed. When the Sister refused to denounce Farrakhan’s racist and anti-Semitic remarks, three Jewish members resigned from the Commission. Pfleger not only supported the Sister’s refusal to condemn Farrakhan’s racism, he also said of the resigning Jewish members: “good riddance”.
