Everton touches down

Paul Mirengoff is our resident Everton soccer fan. Reader Roger Hassell writes:

I’m a regular reader of Power Line, and I take note of your occasional posts regarding the Everton Football Club. My family and I were returning from a European holiday yesterday. We flew United Airlines Flight #939 from London Heathrow to Chicago. My youngest son and I were seated in business class, awaiting departure, when the Everton Football Club boarded the aircraft. Most of them were seated in the business section around us. Both of my boys (ages 11 and 13) are avid soccer players, although they had never heard of Everton before the flight. The Everton club is visiting Chicago and Denver to play exhibition games with the Fire and Rapids, respectively.

As it happens, my boys had a soccer ball on hand, and after borrowing a Sharpie pen from a flight attendant, I was able to get 11 players to sign the ball during the flight.

I would like to think that in the photo above provided by Mr. Hassell the boys are catching up with Paul’s Power Line coverage.
