Kimberly Strassel blows the whistle on the five Republicans among the Gang of 10 who are striving to take the energy issue off the table. It’s not a good idea to begin with, but they are striving to do so, as Stassel demonstrates, on terms favorable to the Democrats. Among the five Republicans in the Gang of 10 is McCain’s friend Lindsey Graham as well as the solidly conservative John Thune.
Senator McCain aims to move up and out of the Senate, but the spirit of McCain lives on, to Senator McCain’s inconvenience. The irony is only hinted at in Strassel’s otherwise excellent column.
