Hollywood underground

The New York Observer caught up with my friend Andrew Breitbart during the RNC in St. Paul. Reporter Spencer Norman turned on his tape recorder and let Andrew talk about the state of Hollywood and the underground life of conservative artists in show business. Andrew writes to note that the resultting article — “Hollywood infidel” — carries a not altogether flattering photograph and that he did not proclaim himself “a god or a king, etc.” It is characteristic of Breitbart’s statesmanship to leave the irreverent contrast implied in his statement incomplete. As is typical in these matters, the tone of reporter Spencer Morgan’s article is somewhat condescending, though Morgan is the kind of sophisticate who refers to Virginia’s Rep. Eric Cantor as a Senator. Breitbart’s unmistakable voice nevertheless penetrates the fog of condescension.
