Christian Science Monitor opinion editor Josh Burek invited us to submit a column on the Republican vice presidential candidate before John McCain made his selection. Today’s CSM carries our column “Sarah Palin: A bold choice, or a desperate one?” One strand of our argument holds that Palin has the potential to refocus attention on the issue of reform in that she is what Obama pretends to be, but is not: a citizen activist who entered politics in order to fight entrenched interests and bring about tangible, practical change. By contrast, Obama’s record shows that, far from being a “change agent,” Obama is a relentless careerist who has brought little, if any, major reform to Chicago, Springfield or Washington.
