My latest Examiner column is called “Head Over Heels: Presidential Politics in the Age of Oprah.” It describes how John McCain countered Barack Obama’s “celebrity” candidacy in two stages: (1) ridiculing the concept and (2) exploiting it in his selection of a running mate.
