Golden Filth

“Golden Filth” is the name of the Fugs’ 1968 live album. I hadn’t thought of it for a long time before I watched last night’s Golden Globe Awards broadcast on network television. I could not believe the incredibly unfunny vulgarity of the broadcast. As Bertie Wooster used to say, what a crew! The Los Angeles Times’s Rachel Abramowitz seems to have been amused by it, while Abramowitz’s colleague Andrew Malcolm found an unflattering political angle that allowed him to take note of it.
