Rasmussen finds that Arlen Specter’s support for the Democrats’ pork bill hurts him with Pennsylvania voters. His vote makes 31% of respondents more likely to vote for him, 40% less so.
The numbers are much worse, of course, among Republicans and independents. Democrats may say they are more likely to vote for Specter because of his support for Obama’s bill, but they probably won’t vote for him anyway. Republicans, on the other hand, barely went for Specter in the 2004 primary. It seems likely that a strong contender (as Pat Toomey was in 2004) could knock Specter off next year.
