Justice abandoned

Debra Burlingame’s Wall Street Journal op-ed column on Presdident Obama and the 9/11 families is must reading. The column is also posted here with supporting links and video.

Burlingame is a director of the national September 11 Memorial Foundation and the sister of Charles “Chic” Burlingame III, the pilot of the American Airlines plane that was crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11. In February she was among a group of USS Cole and 9/11 victims’ families who met with the president at the White House to discuss his policies regarding Guantanamo detainees.

At the meeting with the families, Obama promised that he would seek “swift and certain justice” on behalf of the families. Instead, Burlingame argues, he has left justice abandoned. Although they found his words persuasive, she concludes: “We’d been had.”
