Today President Obama arrived in Saudi Arabia and was greeted by King Abdullah at the airport. Learning from his unhappy experience last time, Obama approached the Saudi King fully erect for a conventional handshake:
Even more than most politicians, Obama hates to admit that he’s made a mistake or that he’s changed his mind. Today’s handshake is a minor but characteristic reminder that in Obama’s case, perhaps even more than usual, actions speak louder than words.
