Acceptable?

Is it okay now to mock President Obama? At least until he has something to show for his efforts, his palpable arrogance and messianic pretensions all by themselves should provide good material for satire. No one worships at the shrine of Obama more devoutly than he does himself. Nevertheless, the satiric potential has escaped practitioners so far.
Last night on Saturday Night Live the opening sketch portrayed President Obama as a failing president. Reader Peter Rice argues that the sketch will give permission to other comedians to make jokes about President Obama, something most have been unwilling to do either for fear of being labeled a racist or because they supported Obama.
“I have watched SNL regularly during the years we have lived in the USA,” Rice writes. “They typically did a lot of comedy making fun of Democrats also, not just of Republicans as so many comedians do, except during 2008 when they totally supported the Democrats and Obama in particular.”
Is this an indicator that it is okay to join power players elsewhere in the world who are, in their own way, laughing at Obama?
