Green Zone Bombs

In Does Hollywood Make You Stupid? I noted, among other things, the imminent release of Green Zone, the latest in Hollywood’s long string of anti-Iraq-war movies. Green Zone, starring Matt Damon and directed by Paul Greengrass, tries to rewrite the history of the war, claiming that the CIA, the Bush administration and the Army knew all along that Saddam lacked stockpiles of WMDs, and that Sunni insurgents were admirable patriots targeted by evil American death squads. Seriously.
Green Zone opened with a thud, garnering a measly $5 million on its opening night:

Universal’s “Green Zone” became the latest Iraq War-themed movie to fall down the box office rabbit hole, debuting to just $5 million in the U.S. and Canada Friday, according to studio estimates.

This can hardly be a surprise to the lefties who made the film; one assumes they had “nobler” objectives in mind than profit. And to some degree, they may succeed. I once met a woman who saw the movie JFK and believed it. Sounds impossible, but I swear it’s true. Damon and his cohorts will probably fool a few rubes, too.
