Bill O’Reilly plans to lead off his show tonight with the Obama administration’s apology to China for Arizona’s new immigration law and other supposed American “human rights violations.” I will be on the show at the top of the first hour, at around 8:00 Eastern time.
UPDATE: Even as the State Department trashes Arizona to other countries, Rasmussen reports that 55 percent of voters favor a law like Arizona’s for their state. Could the Obama administration possibly be more out of touch?
FURTHER UPDATE: It was a fun visit to the TV studio to tape the O’Reilly segment. When I got there, Tim Pawlenty had just finished an appearance on the Cavuto show. We chatted for a while about his latest victory over the Democrats who control Minnesota’s legislature. For more than seven years, Pawlenty has been Horatius at the bridge, repeatedly frustrating the Democrats’ efforts to raise taxes and jack up spending. Supported only by a minority in the Minnesota House that was barely big enough, with no defections, to uphold his vetoes, Pawlenty beat the Democrats time after time. Those who think of Pawlenty as a nice, middle of the road guy who is prone to compromise need to take a closer look at his record. He is, in truth, a nice guy; but he is also a tough political operator who has shown that he knows how to outsmart the Democrats at their own game, even against seemingly long odds. Ed Morrissey makes much the same point at Hot Air.
Then, after I’d gotten made up and was waiting in the chair to start taping O’Reilly’s show, a voice came on and said that Brit Hume says hello. Brit was the principal speaker at a dinner I emceed a couple of weeks ago, and recognized me on one of the monitors.
Finally we did the taping of O’Reilly’s segment on the State Department apologizing to China for Arizona’s immigration law. It was a fun conversation and I hope will make pretty decent television. I think it will lead off Bill’s show tonight at 8 eastern, 7 central time.
