Voters Trust Republicans

As the November election draws closer, Democrats are running out of time to reverse the perception that they have blown their chance in the majority. Here is how likely voters sampled by Rasmussen rate the parties on the key issues:

On the all-important issue of the economy, Republicans lead by nine points. They lead by 16 points on taxes–just wait until people figure out their taxes are slated to rise on January 1–and by 11 on health care. Republicans lead on national security by a whopping 17 points, and on immigration–notwithstanding all the palaver about the supposed political advantages of “comprehensive immigration reform”–by 15 points.
The Democrats might narrow the Republicans’ advantage on the issues in the next few months, but it is hard to see how they can reverse the perception that their policies have proved to be failures.
