When the Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007, the unemployment rate was 4.6 percent. It has more than doubled–the current rate is 9.6 percent–on their watch. The number of unemployed people has more than doubled as well.
Is this primarily the fault of the Democratic Congress? No, not unless one holds them responsible for failing to identify and take action against the forces that were building before early 2007 and that led to the financial collapse in September 2008. But undoubtedly the economically counter-productive policies of the Democratic Congress have contributed to the current economic gloom. No wonder voters across the country are ready to declare the Democrats’ reign a failure and throw them out of office.
