The two Daota at-large seats have looked like promising, though far from certain, Republican pick-ups throughout this election season. In North Dakota, the Republicans will, in fact, pick up the House seat. Rick Berg, who holds a 10 point lead over long-time incumbent Earl Pomeroy, has been projected as the winner.
South Dakota is much tighter. Republican Democrat Kristi Noem leads incumbent Dem Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin by only about 4,000 votes (48-46) with 82 percent of precincts reporting. Too close, in other words, to call.
UPDATE: Noem now leads by 7,000 votes with 96 percent of the precincts reporting.
END OF STORY: Noem wins.
