Today is the 70th birthday of Dionne Warwick, born Marie Dionne Warrick in East Orange, New Jersey. Warwick’s best know hits are, I think, “Walk On By” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?” But the song that launched her, “Don’t Make Me Over,” is perhaps my favorite”. Here’s how it sounded when she recorded it in 1962:
