That’s today, of course. It doesn’t mean much here in Minnesota, but if you were in Rio de Janeiro, it would be a big deal. Here, we are expecting three inches of snow tomorrow–no surprise on Ash Wednesday, which we will observe in the usual somber manner. In Rio, it is something else altogether. Today the samba schools more or less took over. I’ve never been clear on just what they are, but we could use some here in the U.S. As usual, the New York Post has a good slide show on events in Rio. Traffic has been blah today, notwithstanding the day’s rather exciting events. Maybe that’ll help!
