Sarah Palin Can’t Win

Poor Sarah Palin! Where she is concerned, no libel is too low or too improbable. There are two stories about Palin in the news today, both of which are being peddled by the Left as scandals, or at least mini-scandals. Both come from Joe McGinniss’s not-yet-published book; as you may remember, this is the book that he bought a house next door to Palin in order to write. What is curious is that the two smears are, on their face, contradictory.

Story number one is relayed by Doonesbury. Yes, Doonesbury apparently is still being published by some newspapers. The character is reading McGinniss’s book:

Palin “isn’t comfortable in the presence of dark-skinned people.” Hmm. Hmm. Then we have story number two, once again courtesy of Joe McGinniss: “Report: Glen Rice, Sarah Palin had a one-night stand in ’87.”

Palin, according to the book, had a fling thing with Rice in 1987, while he was in college and she was a sports reporter fresh out of college and working at KTUU in Alaska. Rice was a junior at the University of Michigan at the time and their one-night stand occurred while he and the Wolverines were playing in the Great Alaska Shootout.

Glen Rice was a great basketball player. He also, if you don’t remember him, was noticeably dark-skinned. So, which is it? Was Palin uncomfortable in his presence, or was she, ostensibly, all too comfortable?

Where Palin is concerned, the Left (including, apparently, Joe McGinniss) sees no need for consistency: she is an uptight, prudish slut!

So, which of McGinniss’s smears is true? Probably neither one. For a personal account of McGinniss’s sleazy dishonesty in connection with his book on Palin, see Rob Port’s Say Anything.
