Yesterday we received a press release from Common Cause. Remember them? Left-wing front groups apparently never die. The press release announced that Mars had abandoned the American Legislative Exchange Council. Mars makes Skittles. This must have something to do with the death of Trayvon Martin, right? Sort of, but not exactly. The press release brags that Mars joins a list of major companies that have severed ties with ALEC including Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, PepsiCo, Intuit Software, Wendy’s, and McDonald’s.
What is the American Legislative Exchange Council and why should you care that these companies have quit the organization? Michelle Malkin explains in “Don’t do business with progressive appeasers.” ALEC is an excellent organization and the assault on it is led by a group founded by 9/11 Truther Van Jones. “Since leaving the White House,” Michelle cannot help adding, “Jones has been occupied with railing against capitalism while cashing in on book sales from corporate media appearances.”
Michelle concludes her column with a condemnation of McDonald’s, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Intuit, Kraft, Arby’s and Walgreens for showing their true colors: appeasement yellow. She exhorts us to stand our ground and stop showing these corporate cowards our money. But the cowardice is epidemic. Where to turn?
