Is She Or Isn’t She?

This photo apparently has been sweeping the web. The Sun tells us that the woman with the rifle is an IDF soldier obeying the rule that weapons be kept at hand “at all times if they are taken outside their military base.” I’m not sure that is actually the rule, but the photo brings back fond memories of my own experience in Israel, when my wife and I were always happy to see pairs of IDF soldiers making their way through crowds with rifles on their backs. Those were generally men, of course. Anyway, here is the picture:

Bar Refaeli has no doubt influenced how American men think of Israeli women, but this photo is a reminder that she is not, as John Lennon put it, the only one.
