Jets fans should be nervous about Tim Tebow deal, says Obama

Working overtime to obtain votes in Ohio, President Obama called in to 97.3 The Fan, a radio station in Columbus. Obama opined that Jets fans should be “nervous” about the club’s acquisition of quarterback Tim Tebow. Obama explained that he is not in favor of a quarterback controversy to start the season and added that although incumbent QB Mark Sanchez is “not Tom Brady yet,” he did lead the Jets to two consecutive AFC Championship games.

Mark Sanchez will never be Tom Brady.

Tebow has a strong following, so Obama put in a good word for him:

I think Tim Tebow seems to be a wonderful young man, and he’s got just a great winning attitude. He really steps up when things count. But there’s going to be a lot of tension in that situation, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays itself out.

Let’s hope that Obama has lots of new-found time on his hands to watch the situation unfold in November and December.

Will Ohio voters be impressed by a president who calls sports radio to offer trite opinions about burning issues of the NFL? You wouldn’t think so. But Obama’s biggest asset is the fact that voters tend still to like him, even though he often seems aloof and is prone to pal around with the elite.

So an appearance on a popular sports show called “The Common Man & The Torg” can’t hurt.
