The IRS scandal, week 4

For the six years that James Buckley represented New York in the United States Senate, the great William F. Buckley found an ingenious way to acknowledge his fraternal relationship to Senator Buckley whenever he had occasion to mention him in a column. He referred to him as “the sainted junior senator from New York.” It was his characteristically witty way of disclosing his interest in the matter under discussion.

I haven’t found a similarly elegant way to cite my daughter Eliana, who in her reporting for National Review is out front on the IRS scandal that many of us sense is the most consequential of those in which the Obama administration finds itself mired. Yesterday afternoon Eliana appeared on FNC’s America Live show with Megyn Kelly to provide an update on the scandal. Megyn and Eliana packed a lot of information into a six-minute segment (video below).

Readers have kindly indulged my mentions of Eliana’s work for NRO over the past several months. I was going to pass over this video until a reader wrote last night (obviously not in jest given the rest of the message): “I am absolutely shocked that you have not reported on the excellent job your daughter did being interviewed by Megyn Kelly….” His message made me think that readers might enjoy catching up on the scandal through the video.
