Today’s #ObamaFail Chronicles

So it turns out the biggest embarrassment of yesterday in South Africa is not Obama’s entirely predictable and unsurprising “selfie,” but the fact that the interpreter signing his speech for the deaf was a fake:

Johannesburg – While millions across the globe were inspired and moved by speeches made at former President Nelson Mandela’s memorial service on Tuesday, the international deaf community expressed outrage over what they say was a fake sign language interpreter.

According to a report on Australian site, SBS News, deaf South African and board member of the World Federation of the Deaf Youth Section Braam Jordaan said the interpreter was simply making up his own signs.

Heck, he probably makes more sense than Obama.

Heck, he probably makes more sense than Obama.

Well it fits doesn’t it—a fake interpreter for a faker president?  I’m guessing the interpreter was signing something like: “President Obama of Kenya is saying that Mandela was Muad’Dib.”

Better still is the news out in this morning’s NBC/Wall Street Journal poll that 50 percent of uninsured people don’t like Obamacare.  From the sainted Eliana Johnson (where did she come from?) over at NRO:

The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll (article here) finds President Obama’s healthcare law hurting him politically even among the group it was intended to to help. 50 percent of those without insurance now say they think the law was a bad idea, up from 34 percent in September.

That’s not entirely surprising. In Durham last month with Obamacare navigators, I sensed not elation at the law’s passage but a general sense of confusion that may help to explain that finding. “I have to tell people all the time, ‘It’s the Affordable Care Act, not the free health care act,’” one navigator told me. The same navigator said the consumers who come to him are largely unaware that they will have to pay a penalty if they choose not to purchase insurance.

Sounds like the problem is not just low information voters, but low information consumers, too.  What, did people really think Obama would make health care free like gasoline and mortgage payments?

There’s more, but I have to head off and teach class.  But someone at the White House really needs to get working on that “malaise” speech.
