Feel Good Headline of the Day–And It’s Still Morning!

First Piers Morgan last night.  And now . . . (drum roll please) . . . John Dingell is retiring!  The Daily Caller notes that he is the “longest serving member of Congress,” though it is not clear whether this is meant as praise or criticism.  For his part, Dingell is offering his best ironic comic chops with his comment that “I find serving in the House to be obnoxious,” though few people have done more than he and his committee rival Henry Waxman (also retiring) to make the House as obnoxious as it is today.

Plus, he’s been there since 1955, and he’s just noticing now that the House is obnoxious?  I know liberals are slow learners, but seriously?

This is another sign that Democrats know they aren’t getting the House back in November.

Special bonus comedy from the 88-year-old Dingell: “I’m not going to be carried out feet first,” he said. “I don’t want people to say I stayed too long.”  I’m sure Lorne Michaels is trying to book him as a guest host of Saturday Night Live right now.  Over to you, Jon Stewart.
