Dumbest Democrat Benghazi Spin Yet: Ambassador Stevens Wasn’t Murdered!

On Benghazi, Eleanor Clift, a reliable shill for the Democratic Party, has come up with the most mind-numbingly stupid talking point yet: Ambassador Stevens wasn’t murdered because he died of smoke inhalation!

One wonders: are the Democrats seriously going to try to sell that theory in response to the upcoming hearings? I doubt it. But Clift’s moonbattery raises a point that the Democrats would much rather forget: we still don’t know what happened to the ambassador.

The Obama administration has never tried to give a coherent account of Stevens’ last hours (for that matter, we don’t know what he was doing in Benghazi in the first place). The bits and pieces that have been made public, including the claim that he was unconscious or dead from smoke inhalation when he was found by friendly Libyans who carried him to a hospital, and we learned he was there because a helpful Libyan placed a call on the ambassador’s phone, strain credulity. Photographs that show Stevens after he was found in the diplomatic annex are not reassuring. In at least one, he seems to be missing his pants. His end may have been far more horrific than has been publicly disclosed. We don’t know, in part because, if there was an autopsy, its findings have not been made public.

This is just one more important, but unanswered, question about the Benghazi disaster. In arguing that there is no more to be learned about Benghazi, Democrats will probably want to go easy on the claim that Ambassador Stevens died of natural causes.
