Special to Power Line: Jeff Sessions Writes, Tom Cotton Will Fight For You

Jeff Sessions, the conservative bellwether of the Senate, wrote this endorsement of Tom Cotton specially for Power Line. Needless to say, we heartily second Senator Sessions’ comments and urge all readers to support Tom’s campaign and vote for him if they can:

JEFF SESSIONS: TOM COTTON WILL FIGHT FOR YOU

On one of the most important issues facing voters – an issue that deeply affects our communities, our schools, our economy, and our security – Harry Reid’s Senate Democrats have sided with President Obama, billionaire special interests, and amnesty activists over the citizens they are supposed to represent.

Every single Senate Democrat voted for the Obama amnesty bill [S.744] that will reduce your wages, increase unemployment, and place enormous new burdens on the middle class.

Tom Cotton has led the fight against Obama’s extreme immigration agenda. He is one of the most powerful voices in Congress for American sovereignty and the rule of law. He has stood for an immigration system we can proud of.

When the pro-amnesty interests came knocking on Tom Cotton’s door, he gave them the boot. He has proven his loyalty is to you and your family – not the denizens of Wall Street and Washington who shoved this massive amnesty scheme through the Senate with the support of every single Senate Democrat.

Here are the facts: immigration stands at record levels. Since 2000, the federal government has issued nearly 30 million visas for foreign workers and their relatives to compete for jobs in every sector of the US economy. During that time, as documented by the Center for Immigration Studies, all net jobs gains went to immigrant workers.

This substantial immigration flow has also pushed down wages. Family incomes have dropped more than 3,000 dollars since 2009.

The immigration bill championed by President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would double the number of new guest workers imported to fill jobs throughout the economy at lower wages.

That plan would also grant work permits and citizenship to 12 million illegal immigrants to take any job in America.

Finally, the Obama bill would triple the current rate of permanent immigration – individuals who receive lifetime work permits, government benefits, and the ability to vote. Over the next decade, the Obama plan would provide permanent status to 30 million mostly lower-wage immigrants.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that this legislation would decrease wages for the next dozen years. And they confirmed it would increase unemployment at the same time – reducing the wages of many Arkansas workers to zero.

Research from Harvard Professor Dr. George Borjas indicates that each year, American workers competing with foreign labor lose more than $400 billion in wages. Imagine what will happen if the President adopts his plan to double the arrival of new foreign labor into the United States.

We need to help our own struggling workers find good jobs with rising pay, not replace them with lower-wage labor from abroad.

One of the groups that would suffer the worst effects are African-American workers. Peter Kirsanow, a member of the US Commission on Civil Rights, warned that the plan embraced by Senate Democrats would be an economic “disaster” for African-Americans.

Isn’t it time we remembered that a nation owes its first loyalty to its own citizens? Tom Cotton will fight for you.

And he will defend you from the President’s planned Executive-ordered amnesty. Congress has the clear power to stop this unlawful, unconstitutional Executive action that threatens the basic constitutional order of this great Republic.

Just this week, immigration officers issued a dire warning. The council representing 12,000 Citizenship and Immigration Services personnel pleaded: “If you care about your immigration security and your neighborhood security, you must act now to ensure that Congress stops this unilateral amnesty. Let your voice be heard and spread the word to your neighbors. We who serve in our nation’s immigration agencies are pleading for your help – don’t let this happen.”

As we speak, the White House is working in secret with powerful immigration activists to craft these amnesty orders. They would include executive work permits for millions of illegal immigrants – taking precious jobs from Arkansas workers.

These special interests think they can buy America’s immigration policy. They think they can purchase open borders from Congress. They don’t care what you think or what you want.

But on this November 4th, you get to show them who is really in charge.

Tell the open borders crowd how you feel – by voting for Tom Cotton. Show them that the American citizens come first – by voting for Tom Cotton. Deliver a message they won’t forget – by voting this Election Day for Tom Cotton.

If you have friends or relatives in Arkansas whose votes might be in doubt, we urge you to email them this post
