Clarke clobber caper

I was surprised, to put it mildly, to hear Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke disparaging Mayor de Blasio and President Obama and Obma pal Al Sharpton last week when I happened to catch Clarke’s post-Christmas appearance live on cable news. It’s not that Sheriff Clarke hasn’t distinguished himself as a voice of truth and reason on matters of race and law enforcement. It’s that he was saying these things on CNN to CNN correspondent (and Twin Cities native) Poppy Harlow. Sheriff Clarke’s December 26 appearance on CNN’s morning news show is worth taking in. It is full of haymakers (captured in the video below).

Quotable quote: “Al Sharpton is a vulgar human being. He is divisive and he spews hate.”

NOTE: My heading is intended to allude oh, so subtly to the classic 1968 Tonight Show Johnny Carson/Jack Webb sketch.
