Kerry’s statement on Paris attack

Secretary of State John Kerry condemned the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo in Paris today. In particular, Kerry condemned the “extremism” behind the attack. The video below is taken from the Department of State website; the Department of State has also posted the text of the statement here.

Kerry makes a pretense of bravery in the face of the Islamist assault on our freedom. All things considered, it’s probably the best we could expect. Even so, it wasn’t good enough to merit reiteration in French. My thought is that if you can’t call the thing by its name, either in French or in English, you would be well advised to maintain a discreet silence.
