Eric Holder: Fox News Invented Islamic Radicalism!

There is a recurrent fantasy within the Obama administration that they could get away with anything, if only that damn Fox News would shut up. Well, sometimes that could be true. But other times, it’s delusional. Like when Eric Holder blamed Fox News for Islamic radicalism:

Whenever you’re getting criticized by both sides, it probably means you’re probably getting it right. We spend more time, more time talking about what you call it, as opposed to what do you do about it, you know? I mean really. If Fox didn’t talk about this, they would have nothing else to talk about, it seems to me.

Sure. It’s not the beheadings, the burning alive, the selling of women into slavery, the parading of prisoners in cages that has people concerned about Islamic extremism. It’s not reality, it’s Fox News! But what is Holder’s point? Why is the administration so allergic to acknowledging that the terrorists who are wreaking havoc are Islamic radicals?

Radical Islam, Islamic extremism; I’m not sure an awful lot is gained by saying that. It doesn’t have any impact on our military posture; it doesn’t have any impact on what we call it, on the policies that we put in place.

Really? Our strategy to defeat ISIS, al Qaeda and other Islamic organizations is completely independent of their ideology and motivation? No wonder we aren’t getting anywhere.

I think that people need to actually think about that, and think about will we be having this conversation about words as opposed to what our actions ought to be? This is a difficult problem. This is going to be an ongoing issue.

What is going to be an ongoing issue? Islamic terrorism?

This is something that requires us to think as a nation how we are going to deal with the domestic issues that I was describing in my previous response, and how are we going to deal with the foreign policy consequences of some very, very serious problems that our allies face…

Yes? What problems are those? The problem of Islamic terrorism, or something else?

…and that we face, particularly in a particular part of the world.

What part of the world is that? The part where a lot of Muslims live? My Lord, what a moron! He can’t even name the geographic region where Islamic extremism flourishes.

The terminology, it seems to me little to no impact on what ultimately we have to do.

Polls indicate that most Americans think the Obama administration has no strategy to deal with ISIS. I think the majority is right. Identifying your enemy would seem to be the first step toward defeating it–and, in a normal world, the easiest!–but even that is too much for the Obama administration.
