Obama’s Goldilocks Approach to Terrorism [Updated]

We have written here, here and here about President Obama’s foreign policy interview with vox.com. Obama said that the press “overstates” the concern that people should have about terrorism, as compared with, say, climate change. He likened his attitude toward terrorism to that of a big city mayor toward crime–it’s an ongoing effort to keep the rate down. And he volunteered the observation that the victims of the Paris deli attack, which was obviously anti-Semitic, were “a bunch of folks” who were “randomly sho[t] in a deli.”

So the White House press corps had some questions for White House spokesman Josh Earnest. For seven minutes, Earnest squirmed like a fish on a hook: terrorism is a problem–not too big a problem, but not too small either. Just right, apparently. And Obama’s claim that the Paris deli victims were “random” merely meant that they hadn’t been targeted “by name.” It must be tough to have to defend the indefensible on a daily basis:

UPDATE: This really isn’t necessary, but just to close the circle:

And finally he explained his target, why this kosher store: because he was targeting Jews.

JOE ADDS: Am I the only one who noticed that Josh Earnest referred to attacks carried out on the U.S. on “September First Two Thousand One?”
