After last night (2)

Regarding the Republican candidates’ debate hosted by CNN at the Reagan Presidential Library, I want to reiterate this thought. Ceding control to the likes of Jake Tapper is a joke. Jake Tapper is not our friend. He has no interest in serving the interests of the Republican Party or Republican voters; letting Tapper run free is not calculated to serve the interests of the Republican Party or Republican voters. Tapper is adverse to these interests. Not surprisingly, if he advances our interests, it is purely coincidental.

Yesterday I offered a modest proposal to the Republican National Committee: “The Republican National Committee schedules and sponsors the remaining debates, perhaps consistent with the current schedule. With the object of the exercise formulated to advance the interests of Republican voters, the RNC sets the ground rules. The RNC picks the moderators. The RNC seeks out the best conservative journalists and commentators — Michael Barone, Bill Kristol, Steve Hayes, Hugh Hewitt, Bret Baier, Charles Krauthammer, and Byron York, for example — to moderate the debates. The RNC stages the debates. The RNC live streams the debates and invites the networks and cable outlets to cover them.”

Having heard no objection to my proposal, I want to note that the schedule of upcoming debates includes arrangements for debates to be hosted by ABC News in New Hampshire and CBS News in South Carolina. Now this is just plain wrong.

ABC News played a sinister role in the debates of 2012 courtesy of George Stephanopoulos, introducing the issue of “birth control” and therefore the “war on women” into the proceedings. “Birth control” was a hot issue — for Democrats seeking to exploit the ignorance of voters in the general election. ABC News should not be rewarded with a role in the Republicans’ deliberative process. ABC News should be punished for its 2012 shenanigans.

As for CBS News — putting Rathergate to one side — Sharyl Attkisson has given us a deep look into the current operation in Stonewalled, her invaluable memoir of life inside the asylum. Her account shows many times over that CBS News is a Democratic operation in everything but name. Does anyone over at the RNC read? The book tells you everything you need to know about why CBS News is our enemy.

Dear RNC: Please get a clue, fast.
