Clinton Campaign Can’t Keep Email Story Straight

This comes straight from Twitchy, but it bears repeating here because it shows the utter disarray into which Hillary Clinton’s campaign has fallen. It starts with the news that the FBI has been able to recover tens of thousands of emails from Hillary’s home server. Yesterday, the Clinton campaign put out “Friends and Allies Talking Points” that said:

Assuming the Bloomberg report is true, the reason the FBI may be able to recreate these emails is exactly because … the rumors that steps were taken to ‘wipe’ the server’s contents were never true.

But wait! Those “rumors” were the Clinton campaign’s prior position on the email server:

Clinton’s press secretary said the AP story that the server was wiped clean was old news:

So Hillary’s campaign has gone from telling a Senate committee that her server was wiped clean to characterizing that statement as a “rumor” that was “never true.” These people can’t even keep their own lies straight.

For what it is worth, there is no inconsistency between the campaign’s acknowledgement that the server was wiped clean and the recent report that the FBI has succeeded in retrieving emails from the server’s hard drive. This happens all the time. The FBI used forensic techniques to recover data that someone tried to destroy. So today’s “Friends and Allies Talking Points” are not just wrong, but more or less nonsensical.
