Minnesota Can Do Better

As you know if you are a regular reader, I have recently become President of the Center of the American Experiment, a 25-year-old Minnesota-based think tank. In that capacity, I intend to take our free-market case directly to the people. The 30-second video below is our first step in that direction.

Most Minnesotans believe that the state’s economy is doing well. This has become a talking point on the left, as liberals from President Obama on down have held up Minnesota as proof that the blue state model can still work, notwithstanding the fiscal collapses and other problems that have plagued states like Illinois, California and New York. In fact, however, Minnesota’s historically strong economic performance has been dragged down by poor public policy at the state level, to the point where it is now below average. That is the point the video makes. Be sure to watch it fullscreen:

You can also see it on the Center’s YouTube page.

The bottom line is that the blue state model doesn’t work anywhere. This has tremendous implications, not just for Minnesota but for the nation. If you want to help us disseminate this video, please go here and donate. We will place the video via Google ads; $20 will pay for over 8,000 impressions, all of which we will place in Minnesota. Also, it would be great if you would email the video (either embedded if your mail system supports embedding, or else the link) to your friends and relatives in Minnesota. One video that we posted in anticipation of the 2010 midterm elections got over three million views, nearly all via email. It would be great if this video could perform at even a fraction of that level.

One more thing: the video was created by Madison McQueen, an outstanding media firm. There will be more to come.

We have two radio ads ready to go, also. I will post them here before long.
