Jeb Bush has just announced that he is suspending his campaign for president. His speech to supporters was graceful and, in my opinion, entirely appropriate. I never thought Jeb had a shot at the nomination, but he had every right to take his chances. His withdrawal is welcome news for Republicans who understand the importance of this year’s election. My guess is that the largest number of his votes will go to Marco Rubio, which is, in my opinion, a good thing.
Jeb’s campaign was almost entirely a creature of the GOP’s consultant class. These are, for the most part, clueless people. I may have more to say about this tomorrow.
