Over the Top and Around the Bend

Donald Trump’s thoughtless riff on the Second Amendment has dominated the news for a couple of days. Once again, Trump’s inexperience and ineptness as a candidate have prevented him from getting his message out, and have allowed the Democrats to spend two days talking about his purported “incitement to violence.” The funny thing is that, as usual, the violence is all on the other side:

An elderly New Jersey man was reportedly beaten in a restaurant parking lot merely because he was wearing a Donald Trump T-Shirt, police say. …

The attacker set upon the elderly victim with a crowbar, delivering blows to his arms, torso, and legs, a police report says. The victim was treated at the scene.

Let me know when a Trump supporter attacks someone wearing a Hillary button with a crowbar.

Of all the over-the-top reactions to Trump’s musings, this cartoon by Minneapolis Star Tribune cartoonist Steve Sack, a typical member of the liberal herd, is one of the worst:

Donald Trump, assassin! John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators were, of course, rabid Democrats. It takes a remarkably unskillful politician to allow the Democrats to tar the GOP with the Democratic Party’s own lowest moments.
