Trump’s Doctor?

The Trump campaign has shopped around a letter from his long time physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, which he apparently wrote in haste while Trump staffers waited out on the street in a limo. The letter has typos (“To whom my concern. . .”), and is very general about how Trump’s health is a great as everything else about him. “If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency,” Bornstein wrote.

You would think a campaign staff would take one look at the letter and ask the good doctor to take his time and produce something more polished. And I know it isn’t fair to go by appearances, but seriously?

Trump's doctor, or a crazed scientist from "Independence Day?"

Trump’s doctor, or a crazed scientist from “Independence Day?”

The surprise here is not necessarily that Trump would use a gastroenterologist as his primary care physician, but that most people like Trump avail themselves of the highest end medicine, such as annual thorough workovers at the Mayo Clinic. This is just one more item that makes you wonder whether the entire Trump campaign isn’t one big prank—the greatest performance art exhibition of all time, designed to make Christo go “wow—I can’t believe I never thought of that!”
