Clinton: “Make America Great Again” Is Racist!

The Big Dog was at his partisan worst this afternoon. He denounced Donald Trump’s “Make America great again” slogan as racist:

“That message, I’ll give you America great again — If you’re a white southerner, you know exactly what it means,” Clinton said.

The former president indicated that Trump’s campaign slogan signaled that he would make white people more culturally [dominant] over other races in the country.

“What it means is I’ll give you the economy you had 50 years ago and I’ll move you back up the social totem pole and other people down,” Clinton said.

Clinton claims to be an expert on racism by virtue of having grown up in Arkansas. I suspect there are a lot of Arkansans who would like to say: get off our team.

Clinton went on to suggest that making America great again is impossible, a false hope like the Fountain of Youth:

Clinton also suggested that Trump’s vow to make America great again was a false promise.

“Saying I’d like to Make America Great again is like me saying I’d like to be 20 again,” Clinton said.

“Actually I would,” he chuckled, “But I wouldn’t vote for anyone promising to make me 20 again.”

America’s good times are gone, so you’d better get over it. That is the Democratic Party’s message, much as it was in 1980, and for the same reason: liberal policies have produced a lousy economy. And anyone who doesn’t subscribe to the inevitability of American decline is a racist. Or something.

But there’s more! The folks at point out that in 2008, Bill Clinton himself promised that Hillary would…wait for it…make America great again! You can’t make this stuff up:

Of course, it wasn’t racist when Bill and Hillary (who approved the ad) say it. It is only racist when Trump says it. It all depends on context or something, right? Like whether you are a Democrat.
