Mostly immoderate moderators named

Politico reports that NBC’s Lester Holt (September 26), ABC’s Martha Raddatz (October 9), CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Fox News’s Chris Wallace (October 19) and will moderate the three presidential debates this fall, according to the announcement of the Commission on Presidential Debates this morning; CBS’s Elaine Quijano will moderate the vice presidential debate (October 4).

The first debate (September 26) lies entirely in the hands of Lester Holt. Holt is a rabid partisan advocate of left-wing dogmas. He was the perfect moderator to serve obnoxious loaded questions to the Democratic presidential candidates in their NBC debate this past January. Scott Whitlock documented the four most obnoxious such questions for NewsBusters here.

Austin Bay showed why Anderson Cooper “has no business moderating a presidential debate” in a good column for the New York Observer.

I disqualified Martha Raddatz from further proceedings involving Republicans in this post without further explanation this past February. NewsBusters did the hard work of selecting some of Raddatz’s worst liberal outbursts.

Chris Wallace is a good choice.

I am unfamiliar with Elaine Quijano, who is to moderate the vice presidential candidates’ debate, but the signs are not good. She is a correspondent and digital anchor for CBS News. I will only add that CBS News is run by David Rhodes, the brother of Ben Rhodes. David Rhodes runs CBS News as a media adjunct of the Democratic Party. See Sharyl Attkisson’s book Stonewalled for a definitive inside account.

Quotable quote from Martha Raddatz on ABC’s This Week, April 20, 2014 (trigger warning: may induce nausea): “Very important question: What do you think Hillary Clinton should be called as a grandma?…I say maybe ‘Glam-Ma.’ Maybe ‘Glam-Ma?’”
