Top Dems Knew Hillary’s Illegal Server Could Be Fatal

We wrote here about the Wikileaks-released email in which Neera Tanden told John Podesta what she thought about Hillary Clinton’s illegal private email server:

Do we actually know who told Hillary she could use a private email? And has that person been drawn and quartered?

Like whole thing is fucking insane.

At that time, we did not have John Podesta’s response, but I wrote that “I would guess it was Cheryl Mills.” We now know that this was Podesta’s guess, too. The latest Wikileaks dump adds more to the exchange between Tanden and Podesta:

Podesta: Don’t you think Cheryl?

Tanden: I repeat, why hasn’t this person been drawn and quartered? I’m reading wolf hall. There is something to be said for the power of torture.

Podesta: At least we now know why Cheryl didn’t want her to run.

I think Tanden was just kidding about torture. Probably. The interesting revelation is that Cheryl Mills didn’t want Hillary to run for president, and Podesta surmised that was because Mills knew how dangerous revelations about the off-the-books email system could be.
