The curious case of Ilhan Omar, cont’d

I’m scheduled to appear on Denver’s afternoon drive-time Rush to Reason (“Denver’s Afternoon Rush!”) radio show with John Rush and Dan Meurer at the top of the hour at 4:00 or 6:00 p.m. (Central) hour today; Dan has invited me on to talk about “The curious case of Ilhan Omar.” The show airs on KLZ 560 AM and 100.7 FM. The Rush to Reason show website is here. You can listen to the show online here.

The curious case of Ilhan Omar is not just a local Minnesota story. Omar is on her way to national celebrity. People Magazine introduces Omar to low-information readers this week in “Meet Ilhan Omar, the First Somali-American US Legislator: My Win ‘Offers a Counter-Narrative to the Bigotry in the World,’” by Jeff Nelson. Nelson himself may be a low-information sort of guy. He doesn’t mention anything about the circumstances that render Omar’s case curious.

Since I wrote the linked column for City Journal in early September, the curious case of Ilhan Omar has only grown curiouser, if not curiouser and curiouser.
